Shuffling and selling…

Shuffling and selling…

I am gradually getting my head together and moving on to the next thing.

I’ve decided, regardless of the project being funded or not, that it would be a good idea to have a bit of a clear out and get rid of some stuff. I also think a bit of a studio shuffle would be a good idea too. So these two things go together.

I want to have a studio sale. Which is different to an open studio, slightly. The focus will be on selling some work, raising some funds to do other things, rather than showing new work… although I am always open to interesting conversations of course!

To facilitate this, and make the studio look more Shoppish than Workish, I want to move some furniture around to give me more space, and to clear the walls and give myself some sort of surface to display work, rather than have it all around the floor as it is at the moment.

A working space is not the same as a space where I hope to show people things they can buy.

Now… buying… I have decided to sell cheap. These are not gallery based works, they are studio pieces, sketches, workings out, works on the paths from A to B, or even J to Q. They are interesting, but they have fulfilled their purpose for me, so they are up for adoption. I have made a rough price list, and things will be available for between £5 and £50, with most sitting around the £10 – £20 bracket. I would rather sell lots of little things to lots of people who are happy to have them, rather than put high prices on things that don’t sell. I need space and cash!

As part of this I am hoping to encourage my fellow studio occupants in General Office to join in, so we can have a group event. If not, I’ll do it on my own!

I’ll be doing some sort of flyer/publicity in the run up, but if you’d like to come, do let me know and I’ll send you an email invitation.

There may well be cake.
