A Short Pause…

Having submitted my funding application I am in that limbo time…

I can’t really start my project until I know I have funding. I don’t want to do what I have been doing, I feel that has reached an end of sorts… it led me here but now I’m here I don’t want to do more without that first bit of input from the potential Big Project.

I have twelve weeks to fill with other things. I’ve started by clearing my studio a bit and cleaning. I might paint a wall… green? I am also planning a couple of days songwriting and recording maybe in Devon… and I want to do some things at home too, some sorting of rooms, gardening. The not-art part of my life needs attention. If I do get the money, I will be glad to have done it too, as my focus will be elsewhere!

I also have The Fish Collective to be getting on with. Our first fish workshop went well: A Lamentation for 100 Fishes where we commemorated the loss of around 100 fishes from the Wordsley canal in Stourbridge, killed by a sewage spill. Locks were closed, barriers erected, pumping out of water, clearing of fish and other wildlife bodies, and a re-oxygenation of the water. We felt our response to this very local incident should be as quick as possible, creative, and an invitation for others to join in the lament. It is our intention to make 100 fishes (at least) and then have some sort of parade or display to raise awareness of their lives and their plight. Some of these fish have long lives, so to interrupt that is a tragedy for the fish population.

So I have things to get on with, and time to rest and refresh in those 12 weeks… a short pause…
